At the heart of Essaouira

Dar Mellah is a one bedroomed apartment in Essaouira’s Medina. The apartment is on the first floor of a typical Jewish house built around the turn of the twentieth century, and is decorated in traditional Moroccan and Berber styles.

The flat consists of one double bedroom with four poster bed, a well equipped kitchen, shower room with traditional tadelakt shower, and Moroccan salon.

Dar Mellah is available for short or long term let for two people on a self catering basis. A single bed is available for a guest in the salon.

The house maid, Fatima, will look after you during your stay. She will be happy to prepare a variety of local foods for you, including vegetarian and dairy free dishes.

The location

Being within the Medina, Dar Mellah is ideally located as a base to explore the many shops, markets, restaurants and cafés on offer. If you’d rather cook for yourself, then only minutes walk from Dar Mellah you can find all sorts of fresh produce, fish, and spices.

It is only a leisurely ten minutes walk from the apartment to the beach. Essaouira is famous for its windsurfing and kiteboarding, and you’ll have every opportunity to give these ago, then again you could just soak up the sun.

If the beach isn’t relaxing enough, though, try the local Hammam Babst for a traditional steam and rub down. Fatima is on hand to accompany ladies to the hammam.

Bike hire is available from Bab Marrakech, and excursions can be arranged to visit the local olive oil co-operative at Tidzi or the Sunday market at Hedra.

Rates

High season: £40 per night (€45)
Low season: £30 per night (€35)
Minimum 3 nights. Weekly rates available on request.

Prices are for one or two people self catering.
A supplementary bed is available at £10 per night.
Dinner is available on request at a cost of £8pp (€12).

The flat is cleaned daily.
Laundry service is available by request.
